First, I am now operating in two segments, price pattern trades and fundamentals plays. Here's how it works:

Price pattern trades seek a standard minimum 10% return on standard minimum $1000 investments with a time horizon of a short several days trade duration. Trades are entered when patterns are detected that are thought to be highly reliable as well as timely, and exited when conservatively formulated selling patterns appear, with a prompt exit being hypothetically preferred to efforts to maximize return in a trade, or when prices move in the wrong direction. Depending on the availability of funds, more or fewer trades will be entered, while a maximum number of trade setups will be documented regardless of actual trading.

Fundamentals plays seek a substantial return on investment without absolutely requiring complete reliability or promptness of return. As a rule, the invested amount is smaller. Since the return on a trade is expected to be larger on a percent basis, small investments, such as $100 investments, have the potential to exceed trading expenses by a large margin. Chart patterns are used for trade identification and analysis of potential return, but another function of the segment is to allow us to invest in appealing companies/products. Trades are exited when price targets are achieved or clear selling patterns emerge, and no provision is made for limiting losses in case of untoward moves or events, other than the limited size of the investments.

The fundamentals segment rules allow for wide latitude in interpreting company financials and prospects. The primary goals are investing in appealing businesses and high potential return.

Some recently identified fundamentals plays:

BGI
Birks Group Inc.

Gorgeous, stunning jewelry. Made me cry. Numerous stores in Canada and the South East United States. Fairly large company on a revenues basis. Very solid earnings trend over a five year period. No, I misread that. Modest losses over the five year period. Current ratio is a bit low, price/book a bit high. The company's survival is somewhat in question. The chart, however ... I've seen this before, and it's esoteric and very positive. We'll try to buy at $1.00, which is twenty percent below the current price.

AXPW
Axion Power International
http://www.axionpower.com/
A small Pennsylvania manufacturer of advanced batteries and power storage systems. Made in the USA. Their engineering appears to be top notch. Their financial situation is apparently somewhat precarious. The stock is trading at an extreme low price, and my analysis of the chart suggests it will continue to do so, but after a brief move to a considerably higher price, creating a dramatic short term profit opportunity.
A bit of reading at the message board suggests I would probably be mocked for this pick ... but one posting says I'm right.

BALT
Baltic Trading Limited

A little shipping company. Fun. Very low price/book, which is good, low current ratio, which is less than ideal. Running losses. Pays a dividend. As of today, 6/12/2015, I'm leaning towards thinking the price will go down a little.
